🎯 Take control of your relief vet schedule! The Ultimate Relief Veterinarian Planner is your go-to tool for setting goals, tracking shifts, and staying organized. In this post, I'll show you how to use it effectively—and why it’s a must-have for every relief vet.

Introduction

Hey, friends! In case you missed it, I launched The Ultimate Relief Veterinarian Planner on June 1st! I’m so excited to offer this tool to help other busy relief veterinarians organize their goals and take control of their schedules—both at work and at home.

(Pssst… Not a relief vet but still interested? I’ve got something for you, too—The Ultimate Veterinarian Planner is launching later this month!)

If you want to learn more about the planner, check out the landing page or grab your copy now from my Stan Store. It’s an easy-to-download and print PDF, designed with flexibility in mind.

In this post, I’ll take you on a quick tour of the planner’s features, and share practical tips for getting the most out of it—whether you’re just starting or looking to make it a habit.

Why I Created The Ultimate Relief Veterinarian Planner

Since graduating from veterinary school in 2016, I’ve always relied on analog planners to stay organized and track my goals. I’ve tried almost every popular planner out there—including the pricey, performance-boosting ones—and while some worked, none quite fit the unique rhythm of veterinary medicine.

That became even more obvious when I started my own relief business. I was juggling a yearly planner, a massive file-a-fax for documents, and a huge desk calendar at home. One day, I stuffed some important paperwork into my planner… and lost it. That was my breaking point.

So I built a solution: The Ultimate Relief Veterinarian Planner—a tool designed by a relief vet, for relief vets. It’s packed with features you won’t find in a typical day planner.

What’s Inside

Here’s a breakdown of the core features inside the planner:

  1. Goal-Setting Pages
Found in the front (with the Q1 pages), these help you set quarterly goals and keep your growth on track.
  2. Undated Monthly & Weekly Calendars
Start any time of year! These undated layouts help you stay flexible and organized on your own schedule.
  3. Veterinary-Specific Trackers
Includes a CE tracker, license tracker, and account/insurance tracker—no more digging through folders to find that one certificate from 2022.
  4. Hospital Tracking Sheets
Includes a “Master List” and monthly trackers to help you manage client hospitals and shift requests with ease.
  5. Weekly Check-Ins & Monthly Reviews
Stay aligned with your goals and track your progress throughout the year.
  6. Mileage & Expense Logs
Track your mileage and business expenses—without paying for multiple apps or juggling spreadsheets.

How to Use the Planner in Real Life

Set-Up

  • Purchase from my online store—you’ll receive your files by email instantly.
  • Print the pages in any order you like! I recommend starting with the Q1 section, which includes the goal-setting and tracker pages.
  • No printer? No problem! Use a service like Office Depot or Staples to print your copy.
  • Organize your planner by quarters, months, or any format that suits your workflow—and get planning!

Using the Planner

  • Scheduling Made Easy: Use the hospital tracker in each monthly section to track requests, confirmed shifts, and ideal schedules.
  • Weekly Planning Sheets: Undated and ready when you are. Appointment slots from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. make it easy to lay out your week in advance.
  • Make It a Habit: Start each week with a Sunday night or Monday morning planning session. Reflect on the previous week and prep for the next. Then check in daily to make notes and adjust as needed.

Pro Tips for Making It Work for You

  • Keep It Handy: I keep mine in a 3-ring binder inside my work bag, so it’s always nearby. It’s replaced three other notebooks and folders—major space saver!
  • Print What You Love: Since it’s a PDF, you can print more of what you need—and skip the pages that don’t suit your style.
  • Personalize It: Add stickers, tabs, and colorful binders to make it fun and functional. Whether you want sleek and professional or bold and creative—it’s yours to design.

Final Thoughts: Organization = Freedom

Let’s be real—most of us didn’t become relief veterinarians because we love structure. But here’s the secret: structure isn’t rigid. It creates the space for flexibility, freedom, and joy. Planning ahead means you can bring your A-game to every shift—and make time for everything else that matters.

I created this planner to help you feel more in control, less stressed, and more aligned with your goals. It’s more than just a calendar—it’s a tool to support your business, your boundaries, and your wellbeing.
